Updated COVID-19 Visitation Policy
Meadows Regional Medical Center is making a change to our visitation policies during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Meadows Regional Medical Center will allow only 1 designated visitor per patient in outpatient and inpatient locations including but not limited to the following areas: Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical, Progressive Care, and Labor and Delivery. The visitor will remain the same for the duration of the visit. They will be allowed to leave but another person can not substitute.

Due to measures being taken to protect patients in critical condition and avoid undue exposure Meadows Regional Medical Center will allow no visitors in the ICU.

We do recognize the hardship this type of separation can place on families who have a loved one in the ICU. To assist our patients and their families the staff in the ICU will assist in facilitating telehealth (video conferencing) conversations daily between families and the patients.

If a patient in any department is suspected or confirmed COVID-19 we will not allow any visitors but use the telehealth (video conferencing) conversations.

Meadows Health has invested in an outdoor waiting room. At this time, the outdoor space has not been needed but as we continue to see an increase in Covid-19 in our region our goal is to always be ready and one step ahead. This offers flexibility and a potential solution for social distancing patients when they are seeking treatment. Please do not be alarmed by the sight.

Confirmed Case of COVID-19 at Meadows Regional Medical Center

VIDALIA, GA – A person has tested positive for COVID-19 at Meadows Regional Medical Center. The individual is currently isolated at home, and the source of the exposure is unknown.

All Georgians play a critical role in helping to slow the spread of COVID-19:

• Practice social distancing by putting at least 6 feet between yourself and other people.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick; stay home if you are sick.
• Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

People who do not have symptoms of COVID-19 do not need to be tested. Additionally, most people who are mildly or moderately ill with “cold-like” symptoms do not need testing and can safely recover at home while self-isolating and treating symptoms. Because testing equipment and medical supplies are limited, testing must be prioritized for people at highest risk of severe illness, or those most likely to spread the illness to other high-risk individuals, such as healthcare workers, emergency responders, or people living in a congregate setting like a nursing home.

The safety of everyone in this facility is our highest priority. Given this, effective immediately we will be restricting visitation to ONE VISITOR per patient. Thank you for ensuring this change to policy is upheld and implemented today.

The Georgia Department of Public Health has established a COVID - 19 hotline. If you believe that you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to the novel coronavirus, please contact your primary care doctor, an urgent care clinic, or your local federally qualified healthcare center. Please do not show up unannounced at an emergency room or health care facility.

The hotline can help with questions or concerns. Also, if you feel that you have been exposed to the virus, the hotline is able to direct you to appropriate care.

As a community healthcare leader, Meadows Health is taking proactive steps to respond to the potential spread of the coronavirus (COVID 19).

As part of this effort, effective immediately, we are suspending the support groups and classes listed below:

Diabetes Education Courses

• Healthy Lifestyles Classes
• Heart Failure Classes
• High Blood Pressure Classes
• Childbirth Classes
• Breastfeeding Classes
• Caring for your Newborn Classes
• Diabetes Support Group
• CPAP Support Group
• Cancer Support Group
• Cardiac Rehab

In addition, we will be closing Meadows Fitness Center, effective March 17, 2020. Gym members, please watch your email for information and details.

At this time Meadows has no confirmed cases of Covid-19. The original person of interest has been cleared. All tests are still being coordinated by the Department of Public Health (DPH). Patients are still receiving treatment for other diagnoses. We will continue to keep the community updated if something changes.

Meadows will continue the screening process and ask that people remain vigilant in self monitoring.

We will continue to work with the DPH when a person of concern presents at one of our treatment sites.

Meadows Health is caring for a person of interest that has been screened for the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Testing by the Georgia Department of Public Health is underway.

It is important to note that all precautions have been used to protect our coworkers and the public as we follow best practice guidelines that have been established by the Georgia Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control.
